 Our Programs...

The JCAAC offers a wide variety of educational programs: a nationally recognized Annual Arts in Education Conference for public school teachers that is now in its 21st year.  Such well know speakers as Eric Booth, Lisa Fitzhugh, Kimberli Boyd, Gary Race, Isaiah Jackson, and we are happy to announce that John Cimino will be the keynote speaker on November 12, 2007. The Student Ticket Subsidy for the Arts program in public schools and our newest and most ambitious program, ARTS CORPS, a free, after-school, arts education program that works with kids from low-income families to foster a sense of personal possibility and ownership in their world through their engagement with the arts. Started in 2006, ARTS CORPS, has six partner facilities located in the neighborhoods where the youth live. Our teaching artists are professional artists with passion and experience in teaching our kids.

To increase the community's awareness of the arts, the JCAAC: provides Arts Build Communities (ABC) grants to nonprofit agencies through the Tennessee Arts Commission; supports and promotes all the arts through our newsletters, frequent news releases and full-time staffing of a centrally-located office at 214 East Main Street in Johnson City; provides entertainment opportunities to the public through arts in the park, seasonal programming; sponsors performances by internationally-known artists, such as British pianist Martin Jones, guitarists Carlos Bendfeldt and Andreas Kapsalis, and commedia del’arte artist Matthew Wilson.
